Amy competed in Ironman Florida on November 2nd. Amy had a statement race as she announced herself as one of the top triathletes in the Midwest. She was the top finishing female Iowan, mainly due to her sick bike split. She averaged over 20 mph over the 112 mile bike course, which is a nice split for anyone. Then she finished it off with a descent run, to finish in a time of 11hrs and 15 minutes, a wonderful time for her first Ironman. Next race she needs to break 11 hrs though. She worked really hard and it was great to see her get the results from her training. Congratulations Amy!! She posted this on her blog after the race, "The IM was an amazing experience ... I finished in 11 hours and 15mins. Thank you so much to my Mom, Dad, Mark, Mel and Dylan for being my IronFans in Florida and all of their support throughout the year, my coach Heather Gollnick for keeping me on track with my training and answering my endless list of questions, Stadia Sports for keeping me healthy and working with my crazy schedule, Rasmussen's Bike Shop for getting me all ready and packed up for Florida and all of my wonderful friends for their words of encouragement, cards, flowers, signs, phone calls, text messages .... I couldn't have made this accomplishment without you all! A big THANK YOU.
